Exclusive! Shawn Andrews Debuts Video for “Ride Like Thunder”
--
The song, “Ride Like Thunder” debuted in December and quickly garnered more than a quarter million streams. That’s off Shawn Andrews’ notoriety alone. This is his debut in music, but Andrews is very well-known, and has a cult following. Every knows Pickford from Dazed and Confused. The film turned 30 recently, a great time for Andrews to debut his retro rock anthem.
“Ride Like Thunder” is a tune that will make Gen-Xers yearn for an old car, with a loud engine and an empty stretch of highway. In fact, the video is an animated version of Andrews doing just that, tearing down the road, with music loud. He’s driving a muscle car whose engine is louder. The song is simple, but with a hook that is made to score an escape.
The song has the feel of love gone wrong, but the graphics give it a feel of a “no looking back” type of breakup. The retro feel, the attitude in the baseline, and the imagery of lightning come together to create a song that is more suited for someone’s extreme sports reel. It's simple, nostalgia-fueled. I just wish we could have gotten a real Shawn Andrews and not a CGI Pickford.
The new video is produced and created by Chaztized Media. Take a look and let me know what you think in the comments.
